The Works Of The Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit Employs
Text: Acts 13:2
While
they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set
apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
Just
like the employment in companies, firms, and organizations today, the
applicants will have to present themselves via their C.Vs for the employer to
know them at least to some extent where he later select those that meets up the
company’s requirements. So also is the employment in the Spirit- it is the Holy
Spirit that does the employment of whom He recognizes in Christ. The employees
have several entitlements aside their agreed salary so long he abides by the
whole rule of the company.
In our text today, we see where the
Holy Spirit Employs Paul and Barnabas (set apart Paul and Barnabas) for the work he had
them to do. It is
the responsibility of every saved man to serve the Lord according to his
capacity and in his own sphere. God did not appoint elders to do the work on
behalf of their brethren. After the appointment of elders, as before, it is
still the brethren's duty and privilege to serve the Lord. Elders are also
called "bishops" (Acts 20:28; Tit. 1:5,7). The term "elder"
relates to their person; the term "bishop" to their work.
"Bishop" means "overseer," and an overseer is not one who
works instead of others, but one who supervises others as they work. God
intended that every Christian should be a "Christian worker," and He
appointed some to take the oversight of the work so that it might be carried on
efficiently. Can God employ you today? Can He even trust you and handover His
work into your hands? Think today!
Memory Verse:
Ephesians 2:10
For
we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God
prepared in advance for us to do.
